Its other name, Anahata, comes from Sanskrit and means unstruck, unharmed, invulnerable, whole. Its color is green, and it is associated with the element of air.
The Fourth Chakra and Love
As mentioned earlier, the heart chakra is connected to love. However, this is not the kind of love that refers to affection or romantic feelings. Instead, it represents the love of Creation—a love that is not tied to material possessions nor fueled by others. This love is impersonal, linked to Existence itself. It does not lead to marriages, relationships, or serve any specific purpose; rather, it is its own purpose. The Incas refer to this love as Munay, while Christians express it through Christian love.
How to Know If Your Fourth Chakra Is in Balance
When the fourth chakra is balanced, the love we feel allows us to develop deeper intimacy with people and the world around us. This center integrates both our feminine and masculine energies, enabling us to draw everything we need from within ourselves.
A balanced heart chakra manifests as selfless love—both for ourselves and for those around us. We can express our emotions honestly, give and receive love freely, and feel confident in ourselves and the relationships we have built. Additionally, we accept ourselves and our bodies exactly as they are.
How to Know If Your Fourth Chakra Is Out of Balance
There are various signs that indicate an imbalance in the fourth chakra. These signs can be categorized as physical and emotional. The physical signs of imbalance include:

Try to dedicate some time each week to being in nature—breathe in the fresh air, observe the colors around you, and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
Meditation for the 4th Chakra
- Sit in the Vajrasana (Thunderbolt) pose. Sit on your heels with your spine straight.
- Bring your hands to shoulder height, parallel to the ground. Keep your elbows bent, and let the tips of your fingers touch each other near the center of your heart, with your palms facing downward. During meditation, repeat the mantra: “Humme Hum, Brahm Hum.”
- Stretch your arms out with palms facing downward. Pull your navel inward, lift your solar plexus and diaphragm, then slowly return your hands and navel to their original positions.
- Inhale deeply, hold your breath for 15 seconds, and then exhale. Repeat this process twice.
